Color, the living embodiment of light, is destroyed by light. All colored
material progressively fades in proportion to the strength and elapsed
time of its illumination. Colors in this world of ours like living things
must constantly regenerate, or the whole world [all of it not still burning]
would fade to shades of nearly gray.
