| What is Planetary Apprentice? |
| Planetary Apprentice is a reference tool that displays several properties for a selected planet. There are 18 properties divided into four categories - orbital, physical, axial, and atmospheric. The Apprentice shows all 18 properties for your seleceted planet in one scrollable window. Planetary Apprentice is completely free. See the screenshots below. |
| Features: |
| * | One-click unit conversion: Clicking a property given in metric units will automatically open the Apprentice's conversion tool, enter the value clicked, and convert it to an american unit. | |
| * | Comparative chart: All nine planets with their respective properties are shown side by side in one chart. Handy for comparing differences and similarities between two or more planets. | |
| * | Customizable Interface: The colors and fonts used by the Apprentice can be customized by you. | |
| * | Image Gallery: A collection of several planetary images from NASA and the NSSDC. |
| Minimum Requirements: |
| * | Windows operating system. | |
| * | Web browser required for viewing the Image Gallery and the help file. | |
| * | Note: Planetary Apprentice will adjust itself to different screen resolutions, but the recommended resolution is 800x600 or greater. Also, the Apprentice looks best with a color setting of at least 16-bit high color. |
| Preview: |
| * | Preview the image gallery online. Keep in mind this is an online version. The images will take some time to load and the thumbnail linking will be inaccurate at first. | |
| * | Preview the help file online. To give you a better idea of how Planetary Apprentice works, I have made the help file accessible online. |
| Installing: |
| Download and unzip (extract) all the contents of apprentice.zip to a folder (preferably an empty temporary folder). Double click setup.exe and follow the installation instructions. Once Planetary Apprentice has been successfully installed on your computer you can then delete apprentice.zip and the unzipped files. They are only setup files and are no longer needed. If you need a zipper utility, PowerArchiver works as good as the popular WinZip and is freeware. |
